Available Positions

Lifeguard
The Downtown and Pierson Rd Branches are hiring Red Cross certified lifeguards (professional rescuers) or confident swimmers willing to be trained. Duties include the ability to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses. Willingness to teach swim lessons in both a group or private session is a plus. Volunteer
The YMCA of Greater Flint relies on volunteers to assist staff in numerous different capacities. Whether it is serving on a committee, the Board of Directors, or helping teach a class, YMCA volunteers help make a difference in their community.If you are interested in joining the large numbers of community members that volunteer their time at the YMCA, please contact Janet Tweddle at (810) 232-9622.

Child Watch Attendant
The Child Watch Attendant supervises children in the YMCA for children between the ages of 1 and walking to 13 years old. This position is responsible for providing safe and enjoyable childcare for members and their children in accordance with the YMCA Mission and policies of the association. Maintain visual and auditory supervision at all times.

Membership Representative
The Member Service Staff is part of a team responsible for the overall delivery of excellent customer service to all members, guests and participants of the branch. The incumbent is responsible for the sale of programs and services, responding to member and guest needs, promoting programs, and maintaining cleanliness and organization at the Member Service Area. The incumbent performs all duties demonstrating YMCA values and a commitment to excellence.

Building Supervisor (Coverage)
The Building Supervisor is responsible for monitoring and securing the safety of YMCA facilities ensuring members and guests receive exceptional customer service. The incumbent conducts walk-throughs and patrols the facility to preserve order and protect property. The incumbent may assist in membership duties and respond to member questions and concerns.

Boomerang Counselor
The Camp Counselor is responsible for planning, leading, and implementing core and non-core programs and experiences for children in a small group setting. They will also be responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in his/her group. The incumbent will provide high quality outdoor educational and recreational experiences for participants that focus on the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Custodial
The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation throughout the facility. The incumbent is accountable for the completions of assigned duties with a minimum level of supervision. Duties include, but are not limited to, mopping, dusting, trash removal, window washing, meeting set up, pool cleaning, snow removal, lawn care, and other general cleaning responsibilities. The incumbent interacts positively with members and staff and responds to requests personally or inform the appropriate maintenance staff member.

Camp Copneconic
Camp Copneconic offers year-round employment in a number of seasonal, part-time, and full-time positions. Camp staff positions range from summer camp counselors at our overnight and day camp, outdoor education instructors working with our school programs, kitchen staff, housekeeping staff, and more. We look for people who have a genuine love for children, who are kind an patient, who show a love for the outdoors, and are happy to share that with children, and who support the YMCA mission.
